FAQ's
Do I need to buy a specialized cleaner for my hardwood floors or is traditional mopping okay?
Do not mop your hardwood floors with hot soap and water. This can cause them to age prematurely, crack, and split. Use hardwood and laminate floor cleaner and a microfiber mop to properly maintain your floor.
What are the basic varieties of hardwood flooring planks?
There are several variations that differ for each company, but the main wood plank types include strip, plank, wide, and parquet.
How can I protect my hardwood floor from scratches?
The most common cause of scratches is moving furniture. For areas where chairs get moved in and out a lot, put floor protectors on the feet. In high traffic zones, use area rugs and place doormats by exterior entryways. If you have a dog, keep his or her toenails short so they do not scratch the floor when they walk around.
How can I be sure a new wood stain will match the current color on my floor?
Shamrock Hardwood Flooring offers custom mixing programs to create the exact stain match. With a small sample from your current floor, our experts can guarantee accurate colors every time.
I hear popping and cracking sounds when I walk across my hardwood floor. Why?
There are several reasons for this, including uneven subfloors, incorrect use of trowel or adhesive, and improper underlayment, all of which can be fixed by the crew at Shamrock Hardwood Flooring.
Can I install hardwood floors in every room of my home?
While that is possible, it is not recommended to have hardwood floors in bathrooms, laundry rooms, or other areas with a lot of moisture.
